Hayden Macadam Piranha:

Latest creation made in Kampala, Uganda. Buggy renamed in the Luganda language 'ENGIRI' which has two meanings: Warthog, These tough animals are at home in the African dust, live in holes in the ground and they tear up the dirt in search of roots and the like, and also, to keep cool, they roll around in mudholes for hours on end!! or 'To deliver a Sermon'. Powered by Honda CB 900 F 96 bhp - (Yes cooling has been a problem by some strategically placed fans has solved that). With Chipper Adams, ex Ugandan Rally Champion, at the wheel, it came fifth overall, from 21 rally cars, in its first outing, and, even with a spin in one corner, was only 9 seconds behind the winner, Moses Lumala in a USD $200,000 works Toyota Celica ST 185!! Chipper has confirmed that with more experience in the Piranha, he will beat Moses, who is the present Uganda Motorcross Champion!! The attached photo's show me putting the vehicle through its paces and 12th place!

Mark Shaw Piranha:

I'm from the South island of NewZealand in a town called Timaru, I live on the outskirts on a dairyfarm. We built these buggeys to race round the paddocks and down the beach that our farm runs onto. This is powerd by a CBR 650 4 cylnder road bike it goes realy well once we ironed out a few we teething problems we had when we first started running them.

Alistair Harriman Sidewinder:

It's taken a year or so to complete but here is the finished item. Powered by a TT600, it's got a bit of get up and go, although the oversteer on high throttle takes some getting used to. The rear brake required some setting up with a number of modifications made to the tie rod and the inclusion of a solid mounting bracket to overcome the desire of the calliper to rotate with the axle. The chain tensioner is a floating, spring loaded double roller bearing set up which smooths some of the engine speed changes and when used in conjunction with the nylon sprocket guides has never given any trouble. The dusty tracks were causing air filter blockages until the ad-hoc extensions were added. Fuel is recirculated via an electric pump to a small header tank mounted behind the seat. There is definitely only one way to drive this machine and that can be scary, thanks Edge. Queensland.

Vaughan Hartwick Sidewinder:

This is a picture of The Sidewinder that my son and have put together over the last two winters. It is powered with an RZ 350 and running with your front brakes. The shocks are from a snowmobile. We are from eastern Canada and this picture shows it in action on a frozen river. This is great fun once you add the right number of metal screws to the tires (do not stand behind it as it can throw the odd screw). As well with the speeds that it can go it is a little cool even for a Canadian.

Have just got the Piranha plans and am keen to get started on that.

Kev Walton Sidewinder:

This is Kevin Waltons VFR400 NC30 Powered Sidewinder. Features alloy tank & panels as well as alloy rims. Kevin is from New Zealand.

Ben Doyle Sidewinder:

Hoping you will think this buggy is worthy of placing in the customer buggy section of your site. Its a Sidewinder Plus built in approx 8 months, using some materials supplied by the Edge. Powered by a Honda XL 600 which has loads of grunt for chasing Wild Pigs and just getting around in Western NSW. Very enjoyable to build even better to ride. Thanks for all the technical support, thru out the building and testing of my buggy, still having minor heating problems but overall thrilled with the result and well worth the effort. This is my second buggy built from plans supplied by the edge, the first being a Trax 1 which my nephews still thrash today.

Simon Leslie Piranha:

Simon & his son David have built this Piranha series II in Wollongong NSW from parts purchased from The Edge. Powered by a fire breathing ZX9R Kawasaki motor with 140hp on tap, it scares everyone speechless who are game enough to drive it. Features are checker plate floorpan, Stainless steel fuel tanks, fire extinguisher, nose bash plate, front brakes & of coarse that wild motor!.

Phil Hay Trax II:

Just thought I would submit a photo for your website. Trax-II design with a Honda 200cc Trike engine with electric start and high/low ratio. A few extra bits like the fuel tank and lights were added for fun. Took us about 12 months to build and NZ$2000. Its been lots of fun. (Phil is from Auckland, New Zealand).

Konrad Kahr Raven:

Hi Tony, Attached is a photo of a Raven that my 12 year old son and I built.
Reconditioned 3.5 hp B&S engine, we added a roll bar for just in case. We live in Brisbane and hope that you may put this on "the customer buggies" section of your web site. We also have a Taipan nearing completion and starting a Sidewinder for Dad. Many Thanks, KONRAD.

Dave Boxwell Fun Kart III:

Tony, Thanks for all your help with our Kart. Your advice is brilliant and worthwhile and has helped us heaps. We all have heaps of fun with the Kart. All the boys drive it. Tim 14, Jono 11, Matt 7 and Dad 42. Even mum has had a go. The boys driving skills have improved out of sight and that's what it is all about, plus having fun. Davo (Fun Kart III with an upgraded rollcage).

Daniel Brown Sidewinder:

Hi, my name is daniel brown im 16 and I've got a Sidewinder. It is powered by a DR 400. I purchased it early last year and the first time I drove it the chain broke. When I got a new chain the chain kept jumping off. This pissed me off quite abit so I totally rebuilt it and replenished the motor, re-painted it as it was yellow and I got all the correct pedals, brake calliper etc. It took me about 16 months to finish. The first time I drove it I hit a tree doing about 50km/h and ripped the right front wheel and bent the axel, (this happened last weekend) the pic I'm sending u is just before I crashed it. I would like to say thanks 4 all your help. I guess I'll be getting some more parts off u soon.

Nathan Allen Sidewinders:

Nathan lives in Wisconsin USA & has built this flock of Sidewinders for Mum Dad & the kids.
Even a scaled down version for junior!. Now that's dedication to your family's entertainment.

Daniel Mallyon Mini Sprint:

G'Day, Heres a good shot of Dans Mini Sprint fully modified. It has since been modified even more, this was the first time out. It runs a GS 550 Suzuki, 6speed. We clocked it at about 150 kph. Port Pirie, South Australia.

Jaimee Daly Raven:

Jaimee Daly lives in Central Queensland, her dad built this purple and pink raven for her 6th birthday it's powered it with a 3.5hp Briggs has ball joint steering, bumper bar, wide front wheel option & a rollcage.

John McWinnie Trax:

Heres my version of a Trax, It was an 18 month attempt at something strong and fast, Powerd by a GS 400cc suzuki 6 speed road bike motor with electric start. It has been 3 years and the end result has evolved to be a very potent combination of power down Ball's out "you point you go yyyyyyeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr. I love that thing. Power: Suzuki GS400cc/road/6spd, Drive: Chain/sprocket, Chassis: JMACK/Edge Trax1, Brakes:GS850/rear disk, Steering:Suzuki Mighty boy, Front Suspension: Subaru Rear Coils, Electrics: Suzuki GS400. Next to it is my daughters little toy that was constructed in a few weekends with a 5 horse briggs.

Tas Wylie Trax 1:

Hi all, my name is Tass Wylie and my father has just recently purchased my brother and I a Trax 1 which one of his mates had built, the buggy is powered by a 4-stroke Honda 250cc with 5 gears and reverse (motor is off a quad), we're currently thinking about making some mud guards for the front. You may notice the small fuel tank, but it works great we can hoon around all day on one tank full. Because the buggy is fairly light it goes fast, it's been clocked at over 85kmh and goes through sand, mud, rocks and even trees. Originally the motor didn't go because the ignition had blown (electronic distributor inside motor.) so the guy my dad bought it off some how connected a car distributor, now it starts first go we just have to connect the alternator so the battery doesn't go flat when we go camping ( the battery goes flat because it runs a fan to cool the motor).

Josef Tufilli Taipan:

Josef's taipan is a good little piece of machinery, It was made from the Edge product Taipan with a few modifications. It is powered by a Honda VT250 Roadbike motor with electric start. nice little paint job, even 2 little spot lights for a bit of "nightime fun". My Father and I built it in about a year as we where short on the $$ but she turned out great. It is great fun to drive, popping up some rooster tails and sliding around the corners. it tops about 120-130kph so its definitely got the go-juice.

Damian Lade Sidewinder:

Damian is from Bridport Tasmania, this is his shinny FT500 Honda powered Sidewinder. Built by Damian & Brian Lade it features custom two into one stainless exhaust, electric fuel pump & pressure regulator & Tropical Blue two pack paint. Lots of attention to detail here, check out the panel work & the little rear view mirrors.

Dominic Belino Sidewinder:

Dominic is from Florrence Colorado USA & has powered his black beast with a thumping KLR650 Kawasaki. He built the chassis himself & used a few Edge parts such as Front Brakes & front shocks. Rear brakes & shock are the KLR items. It weighs in at 640 pounds, fuel tank, battery box & panels are all aluminium. Dominic reckons he had ideas of sending the motor to the race shop to get it tweaked, then he drove it & changed his mind, "it has plenty of power".

Adam Howard Sidewinder

AutoPro Belconnen, ACT, Powered by a YZ490cc Yamaha two stroke engine. My Sidewinder comes complete with RPM race seat, five point RPM race harness, 20lt fuel cell, K&N pod filter, disc brakes. With heaps of power thru the whole rev range, Kenda tyres keep traction to the ground ...............almost.

Michael von Alt Taipan:

We built this Taipan during summer with plans from the Edge.My son and I completed it in two months. Powered by an 8 hp. Honda its a blast. Mike and Brian von Alt, Parma, Ohio, USA.

Igal Piranha:

This is Igal's Series 1 Piranha powered by a Suzuki GSX600F motor. Igal has made this buggy to the Edge plans from scratch & drives it in his home country Israel.

Michael Spaan Piranha:

My Piranha is finished now for about 2-3 months, I spend a year to finish it with an actual building time of about 7-8 months. I haven't been riding a lot with it as the wether isn't too good at the moment. A different problem is the riding locations for it over here in the netherlands. It's a rather small country which is also very full with an anti motorsports government when it comes to driving in the nature. But hey that's life, I can drive the buggy on MX tracks and will maybe be racing it a competition next year. It was great fun building the buggy and I have got the end result to show for it. My buggy is a lot more expensive then if I would buy one from you, but as I am a mechnaical engineer 80% of the fun was the actual building. The buggy is powered by a Honda CBR1000F and has a standard Edge drive system. I have front and rear disc brakes with custom lasercut discs I designed. My buggy has a 10 liter main tank and a 1 liter gravity feed tank which is enough for driving it over here. Therefor I didn't put the wings on my buggy and, in my opinion, this looks very fast and slim. The frame is sandblasted with australian quarz sand (yep that stuff is used on the other side of the world ) and then powdercoated (0.4 mm thick!) glossy white. I used aluminium anodized plating to keep the sand out. I have got an alloy brushed dash which looks very cool also. The frame itself was welded by a colleague of mine who is a professional welder, this as I wanted a 100% build buggy. If I start on another project in the future I will weld it myself as I now feel that I have enough welding skills to make it decent enough. There are a lot of pictures of the buggy can be found on a small site of my brother http://dhbuggy.xs4all.nl/

Mark Davies Sidewinder:

My name is Mark and I am from Wollongong N.S.W. I built this Sidewinder Plus from the ground up (taking about 9 months). Facts about my sidewinder: * bearing mounted pedals and steering * old shape new dimension rear swing arm * Suzuki LS 650 Savage (single cylinder, 4 valve, electric start, converted the belt drive to chain drive) * 2 1/4’’ stainless steel exhaust * 4’’ Stainless steel muffler * Chassis powder coated in ‘Watermelon' * Swingarms, header tank powdercoated in 'precision silver' Note: Mark calls his buggy a Sidewinder Savage Plus.

Sam Woodger Sidewinder

I have finally got around to sending you in a photo of my Sidewinder I have been meaning to do it for months now. It is fitted with a Honda 1984 XL500 that has been completely rebuilt now fitted with all new bearings, gaskets, topend, piston (WISECO), rebored and dyno tuned at 542cc pulling 41 hp @ 5500rpm a dramatic increase over the 27hp standard. It has Bearclaw rears and Frontmax fronts with a car disc drake fitted to the rear solid axle and O-Ring gold link race performance chain. Fitted with Narva spotlights and a dash showing speedo, RPM, oil temp and pressure gauges many switches key ignition. XL 500 monoshocks were used off two bikes on the front of the buggy as its front suspension and a single CR500 monoshock is used on the rear of the buggy. Fitted with a harness and edge seat. I am surprised at how well you fit and how comfy it rides even on the really rough stuff. A great improvement over the Taipan buggy I had. Thanks again Tony for all your help and one day will look into the Piranah. Cheers Sam.

Jim Guarnera Piranha:

Another stunning Piranha powered by a VTR1000 Honda. Jim lives in Virginia USA .

Guyron Phillips Taipan:

It is a highly modified Taipan, with rear suspension, front suspension, it has a CB250 engine & 4 point racing harness. We built it on and off over about 10 months. It has a fire extinguisher for a fuel tank, aluminium bonnet and floorpan. And big ATV tires for plenty of grip.

Blair Colins Trax II:

Originally powered by an 8.0hp motor & CVT. My Trax 2 now has a water cooled Kawasaki ZZR 250cc Engine, 6 speed gear box, tacho, temp and neutral light. Also 9ltr fuel tank and low pressure fuel pump. Custom twin exhaust system to boot. Max speed first run 110km/h 4th gear. 2 more gears left, "scary isn't it." This Sunday is the first bush bash, it should weed out any problems. If OK please feel free to add to buggy page on the web. Thanks Tony, brilliant product. I will e-mail running shoots and tell you how it all pans out soon.

Kieran Whitley Taipan:

Heres a few pictures of my eight year old son Kieran “rally driving” his taipan here in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Taipan is fitted with a Briggs & Stratton 13 hp engine and built to your excellent plans.

Shaun Whitley Sidewinder:

Other picture is of my Sidewinder fitted with a Honda XR 500 engine, bored to 520 using a Wiseco piston and fitted with a webcam. Seems to go pretty well, but a little bit lumpy due to the cam shaft. Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Mark O'Connell Piranha:

Please find attached the photos of my Sidewinder cum Piranha, with the double "A" arm rear-end. What a disease!! It all started in 1997, when I bought the set of plans, then after hitting a tree, I asked what to do about a bent front end, and you gave me the approx dimensions of the sidewinder plus over the phone (no internet for me then), just before you finalised the plans. Although its not quite what the plus looks like, I still think that it looks better than the older square nose. I am using a KLR 650 motor, that I wasn't so sure about, but this thing goes like stink, with much faster cornering speeds, after the first run, I had a smile like a split watermelon. Since I opted to use the 8" rear rims, I had to modify the front lower A arm tube to clear the uni. Its had quite a bit of testing over the last few months, with no sign of failure. I would like other buggy builders to see my buggy photos on the customers page.

Michelle McKee Sidewinder:

This is my wife, Michelle's, Sidewinder. It is powered by a Briggs 14 hp engine. It is set up with Comet Clutches to make it an automatic. We build this from an Edge USA kit. Dennis McKee. Walla Walla, WA, USA

Mick Piazza Sidewinder:

My name is Mick Piazza from Wollongong NSW, here is a picture of my left over parts of previous Sidewinder which is now a Piranha ( I will send a photo of the Piranha once its all back together and painted, in 1 or 2 months time) My son and I built this buggy in a period time of 3 months. We used the old motor from the first buggy which is an XL 500, worked to 520. We now have 2 buggies. With having the left over parts from the first sidewinder this one only set us back $1500. We sprayed it ourselves with enamel air dry paint. Can u plz put this on the Customers buggy page we would be grateful if u did.

Gary Clauson Trax II:

I finally finished my Trax II from the plans I purchased from you a year ago! I made quite a few changes to accommodate parts found in the USA, but followed your overall concept and dimensions quite closely. I used a 6.5 hp Tecumseh engine.

Kev McLachlan Raven:

This Raven was modelled along the lines of Tony's nephews. It has a 5hp Briggs with a kill switch on the steering column. Kev and Phil built it as a Xmas present for Kev's grandchildren. Briannas favorite colour is purple and Lachlans is green, hence the colour scheme. This is Kev's first attempt at anything along these lines and found the plans quite comprehensive and easy to follow. Cedar Vale QLD

Martin Pederson Sidewinder:

Please find attached a pic of an R6 Powered Sidewinder built specifically to race in the TORC 5 Hour Enduro at Bagshot Park Racing Complex in Bendigo, Victoria. This is an event that is the domain of the Honda Oddessey FL 350's and 400's. There is also an open class to run in as well. Unfortunately this incomplete Sidewinder was stolen together with it's grey tandem trailer reg N89073 on January 12th 2004 from Pearcedale in Victoria. Anyone with any information on it's whereabouts or sees it advertised is asked to call Cranbourne, Vic CIB on 5991 2211. Or email Martin Pederson on mediapro@ozemail.com.au

Coenie Nolte Piranha:

I live in Namibia, (Southern Africa) in a town called WALVIS BAY. Description of my Piranha: * Double A-arm suspension - front and rear, * Brakes - front and rear, * Engine - VX 800 V TWIN SUZUKI, * Tyres - 25x12.5x9 Bear claw - rear tyres - 22x7x11 Tracker - front tyres. The Piranha was built by myself and it took me from start to finish, two and a half months. We had a lot of fun December 2003 with my Piranha on the dunes. Friends and family from South-Africa visited and they were very impressed as they could not believe the power and suspension of my Piranha. I am totally satisfied with my Buggy and my next project will be a Hypersprint. Many thanks.

Wollongbar Campus Sidewinder:

I would like to thank your company for the Sidewinder plans that you sent to us last year. The students produced a brilliant job and enjoyed the experience, both building as well as driving the finished product (under close supervision). We installed a 600cc Yamaha motor and felt reluctant to get it out of 2nd gear as the speed was incredible! This year we are planning to train people in Motorsport building with input from racing teams here and the Gold Coast. The advertising we will be doing includes a video of the construction of the Sidewinder as the project, I will send a copy to you when it has been edited and dialog included.

Andrew Georgakopoulos Sidewinder:

Dear Tony, after one year and 3 months ( I had to work out in the open in my yard) I completed my sidewinder powered by a Suzuki GS 400 E following strictly your plans. I'll build a trailer as soon as I can and I'll test the buggy as I live in a suburb in Athens and open space is far from my home. best regards, Andrew Georgakopoulos, kifisia, Athens, Greece.

Leigh Walker Taipan:

My name is Leigh, (Brisbane,QLD ). I bought a set of plans from you guys to build a Taipan in February 03. I am glad to say I have finished. Just thought I say thanks for all your help. I took advantage of your parts that you sell and have built the " WIDOW MARKER " I have fitted a CB900F ( 90 hp ) into the beast. Added some extra side protection, added some supports to the front axel beam, added extra roll bars. But the most important thing was thing was a set of foot pegs added to hold your self in and have more control of the pedals. Full custom exhaust. I also added two extra bearings and housings to the rear axle. This helped stop the axle from flexing when I'd put my foot to the floor. I added a thick steel plat to the front. ( 18 kgs ). This helped kept the nose down and the steering was improved. Plus the gadgets- tacho, volt gauge, 4 point harness, thermo fan and oil cooler.
This machine is awesome on flat ground. I don't know the top speed, but at a guess between 130 km and 150 km. ( just a guess ) Anyway, I have attached some pics of my " WIDOW MAKER " with this email. Thanks a million Edge.
Greatest Regards. Leigh. P.S I am thinking of building a sidewinder next. (Edge products would like to express that although we applaud Leigh's efforts & enthusiasm we don't recommend such a large engine for the Taipan).

Russell Cartmell Sidewinder:

Thought I would show you whats in my garage.Finished for over a year now , it took less than twelve months to build from your plans with only a handfull of parts purchased from The Edge (great set of plans guys). Powdercoated black with anodised aluminium and stainless parts, it's powered by a KLR650 motor thats been rejetted to suit the new inlet & exhaust setup which provides heaps of low end torque for the west coast beaches around Auckland. Pulls 128kph at red line, and thats not quite full throttle! Started building a Piranah now. Planning on powering that with a 1000cc in line four. I must be bloody mad! Auckland New Zealand.

Bill & Jen Taipan

Thank you Tony for the inspiration and excellent plans we used to build this buggy. We started building a Taipan then wanted a Sidewinder. About 4 months later this is what we came up with, double A arm front, engine mounted in swingarm, front and rear brakes, fire extinguisher for a fuel tank and a Honda CT 200 auto ag bike engine. It handles very well, lots of sideways action. Best fun ever. Bill and Jen. Yarragon Vic.

Todd Rhodes Sidewinder

This is a picture of my gokart me and my step Dad built it has a DR 650 in it and a whole heap of performance things like 4 point harness, racing steering wheel and racing seat. It is a beast hav'nt jumped it yet but can't wait.
It has taken us about 8 months to build on and off and about $6000 so I hope you could put it in your Customers Buggies page.

Duncan McKay Sidewinder

Would like to see a picture of my newly built side winder on your website. I spent 6 months on a tight budget using what parts i had or what i could beg, borrow or swap. The winder runs a XTZ 660, water cooled and electric start. The buggy steers and handles very well using the rear shock from the donor bike and two XL250 mono shocks on the front.

Steve Trax 1

Hi my name is Steve from Rockhampton, Qld. Here is a pic of my Trax 1 which took me about 6 months to build in my spare time. It is powered by a 92’ Yamaha 200 Ag bike engine. It also features an LJ Torana Rack & Pinion, 88’ model CBR hydraulic disc brake calliper, a four point racing harness and Edge supplied wheels. Hope you can post it on you Customer Buggy page

Ryan Cooper

Ryan cooper of Perth western Australia is a 13 year old boy who brought this taipan with his own money from working with his uncle at an engineering works. It has a 16 horse power engine, CR500 exhaust, electric start. The person who I brought it off it fitted wings on each side for the petrol tank and the battery.

Greg Poulter Fun Kart III

Hi " THE EDGE " This is greatful Greg thanks for the EDGE on making something l never thought l could. The kids and missus are in New Zealand for a holiday, so l wanted to surprise the kids when they got home, 4 days to go before they get home and counting THANKS HEAPS.

Cliff Mason Taipan

Hi. Have included photos of my completed Taipan that I constructed from your plans. I built it with 30 X 30 X 2.5 duragal. Fitted with 13 HP Honda has been up and running for six months now. Performance is better than expected. Terrific in fact. 80km per hour not a problem. one only construction problem The clutch keyway & the Honda crankshaft are 4 thou different. The clutch being undersize. Stepped keys on 4 thou was not an acceptable option, we took the clutch apart and machined a new centre section and fitted a larger key to match the engine. Works perfect but extra care is needed when reassembling clutch to maintain balance etc. but this solution is working well. (Note: This is a common problem with Honda engines, often they are metric cranks where as industry standard is SAE.....Tony) Hope you find this interesting. Cliff Mason

 Peter Richards Hypersprint

THIS IS THE "RICHARDS CRASH" HYPER SPRINT. THE MOTOR IS A HONDA CBR 1100 BLACK BIRD .HAS ELECTRIC REVERSE USING CAR STARTER MOTOR. CURRENTLY RACING IT IN LOCAL AUTO CROSS COMPETITION . THE POWER TO WEIGHT MAKES THIS A RALLY CAR KILLER

Alexandre Barrette Taipan

Hi the edge, My buggy is a custom Taipan with a front suspension. I took a 200cc honda engine and front ATV shocks. My goal is now to upgrade it with a rear suspension and a bigger engine.  This project was a school project for high school. I have done it in 5 months. I'm really proud of my buggy. I have 15 years old and I live in Quebec, in Canada. Thanks for your fabulous buggy, Alexandre Barrette

Andy Neish Piranha

Here's a couple of photos of our buggy as it was when we spoke on the phone. I will send you the updated photo's when it's ready to race. Cheers. Andy. Neish, New Zealand.

Burger Van Heerden Sidewinder

I am from South Africa and built my Sidewinder with a double a arm front suspension, it is powered with a RZ350YPVS, its fast and I use it on the farm in the dunes. I am going to fit a SV650 motor for more torque, thats why its not spraypainted yet. Burger Van Heerden

Terry McGonigal Piranha's (High Performance Ireland)

Hi Tony, please look at these pictures and let me know what you think of the Piranha's/ the blue and yellow bug is running on a 954 fireblade injection 150bhp standard, and the green an dark blue is running on a 929 fireblade injection 132bhp standard, tomorrow we are fitting or power commanders to the 2 buggies and taken them to a rolling road dyno, the 954 is now running about 160 bhp+ more to come. Piranha's built from Edge PIR1518 kitsets. Web page www.bigboyztoyz.cc Email terry@bigboyztoyz.cc

Karel Foster Taipan

KAREL FOSTER HAS BEEN BUILDING HIS TAIPAN FOR 3 YEARS AND HE FINALLY FINISHED IT AT THE START OF SEPTEMBER. HE PUT CUSTOM FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION , WITH A KLR 650 MOVING IT. HE BUILT THE COMPLETE THING FROM SCRATCH, IT WAS A HARD TASK BUT HE EVENTALLY GOT THERE.WHEN HE FIRST FINSHED IT WAS NOT VERY RELIABLE BUT IT IS SLOWLY GETTING BETTER. KAREL's TAIPAN IS A VERY QUICK GO KART AND WITH A LOT OF DOWN LOW POWER. KAREL FOSTER. BODDINGTON, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Peter Hilliard Sidewinder

Peter lives in the remote country of Central Australia & is one of Edge Products dedicated buggy builders. Powered by a Yamaha XT600 & painted Stelth Black. Indulkana South Australia.

Allan Van den Heever Piranha

Hi there. My name is Allan , I am living in South Africa. I purchased the plans in June this year, (04) So far it has been a great project and I did enjoy building the car on my own. I made some adjustments in the rear to fit the KZ 1000 Kawasaki motor. And I also changed the rear weal bearings to standard wheel bearings. As you can see I am still not finished with the seat and other smaller details for the finishing off. I did some test runs few times and I am quite impressive with the road handling of the car. My next project will be much smaller, but I hope it will look exactly like the real thing. Best regards, Allan van den heever - Northern province South Africa

Ben Scott Piranha:

Hi, my name is Ben Scott of Kempsey NSW. Here's a picture of my Piranha series II that I have constructed over the past two years. Powered by a GSX750 Suzuki & an Edge PIR17 rear end.
The rest of the car was hand built including a custom made electric Reverse gear, (car starter motor) & side panels. The Piranha II was a great challenge and will hopefully lead to bigger and better things in the future.

Tim Johnston Piranha

Tim Johnston & his mate Robyn Fauser built this very impressive Pirahna Series II. Powered by a thumping single pot KLR 650 motor. Took a year to build part time but well worth the wait. Reluctantly for sale as Tim is raising capital for a buisness venture, but says he will be back into one again hopefully sooner rather than later. Tim will consider genuine offers around $9000.00 AUD and lives in Gidgegannup, Perth, WA.
Fast Mike Piranha

Tony, Picture of my Piranha to post on your site. TDM850 Yamaha engine, FZR1000 Radiator, Quick disconect steering wheel. Has 13-60 gearing and 25-12.50-10 Kenda Bear Claws on ITP C4 rims on rear. It handles like a gokart and soaks up bumps like there not there. Tony you did your homework on this buggy. Piranha is one cool machine! Thanks, from USA desert Southwest.

Shawn Studdard Sidewinder

Hi Tony, Well, I have finally finished the sidewinder!!, it took 1 year almost to the day to complete the project. I have included a picture of the final product if you want to put on your customer buggy page. I live in McKinney, Texas. This Sidewinder has a 2002 Yamaha 660cc Raptor motor complete with electric start and reverse! It is scary fast. Has more low end torque than I know what to do with and keeping the tires from spinning on dirt is a challenge with all the power this has. Can't tell you how much fun it has been to build this and thanks for the help along the way with answering questions when I ran into problems. Thanks, Shawn Studdard

Lloyd Evans Piranha

Hi Tony, Happy New Year. Well, after many hours of fabricating and polishing stainless steel components my modified Piranha is finally completed. All components were made by myself ,and I had a mate help be paint the beast. The first outing was on my parents farm which was a great success, the 86 vf1000r performed extremely well. The shocks needed stiffing some more and I think they will always be under rated but I have not had time to venture out again since adjusting the shocks. My buggy project has been a very rewarding achievement, and the plans were great. Thanks for all your help with my queries over the past 12 months. Regards, Lloyd Evans, Northland, New Zealand.

Dave Bresser Mini Monster truck

Dave lives in Perth Western Australia & has built this Mini Monster truck powered by a 250cc motorcycle engine. The Fibreglass body was purchased from The Edge Products.

Bill Wilhoit Sidewinder

Hello tony, this is Bill Wilhoit AKA "cooltoy", (Forum). About me: Bill Wilhoit from Grand Rapids Michigan, USA Specs: Sidewinder, Started in December 2000 Finshed in june 2002 Motor: 1992 kawasaki KLR 650 High gloss powder coated frame. In the 3 years the buggy has been completed i have won many 1st and 2nd place finishes at our local race track, http://bobsfamilyraceway.com/old/index.htm . I am very much looking forward to this spring to kick off the 4th year racing the Sidewinder. When not racing I can be found at Silver Lake dunes.

Norm and Andrews Sidewinders

These two sidewinders took a few years to build from the EDGE plans (and a lot of Sunday arvos in the garage) and both are powered by 250 cc engines. Our 25 acre property in SE Victoria is heavily treed where we run them, so top speed is not a big priority. We built all the parts ourselves and built on a tight budget which meant we needed to modify some things from the plans slightly, however these two winders get up and boogie and are great fun to throw around. They can be thrown into a rear-wheel slide, point the front where you want to go and tromp it and you are away again. Unfortunately the blue one blew up the old Honda engine, it is now being fitted with a GPX 250 (electric start hooray), this should improve performance and FUN once it’s back on the track. We had lots of fun building these machines and will have lots of fun throwing them sideways through the bush in the future. More pictures can be viewed here http://groups.msn.com/PrimaryReactionSidewinder/normandandrewssidies.msnw

Tim Stockman Sidewinder:

Rear-winder, modified Sidewinder design. Powered by Honda CB250N motor, Great Fun over the relatively flat country I run it over. Needs some better front shocks and a bit of tweeking but thats half the fun of building these things!! Might not be a "flash" as some, but build as a fun machine, which it surely is! Burra, South Australia

Patrick Byrnes Trax II:

My name is Patrick Byrnes, I'm from Ireland and I'm 13. I built this Trax 2 at my fathers engineering works in my spare time. It has a 6hp briggs and Comet clutch. Rally 4 point harness, Lights, 12v car battery, disc brake and more. I took me 4 months to build with the help from the Edge Products. I also built the customised trailer to go with it. I'm in the middle of constructing a Sidewinder with a KLR650 for my self and a Taipan for my Bro. Thanks again for all your help.

Mark Rostron Taipan:

I'm Mark Rostron from England. Me and my dad made this Taipan. Its been fitted with a Briggs 16hp 656cc opposing twin hooked up to a torque converter off a John Deere Gator, it took us about half a year on and off to build.

Ella Littlely Raven:

I've attached a picture of my daughters Raven which I built after finishing a Trax 2 for my oldest 2 kids .This buggy was originally built to fill in time while waiting for the "new buggy" plans .This buggy has a Trax2 style rollcage, RCI seat, 4 point harness, rack+pinion steering, balljoint tie rods, 6 HP Briggs+Stratton with tav2 and custom layshaft to duplex chain drive and colour co-ordinated red and green brake and throttle pedals .Top speed 35km/h and does a pretty good one wheel rooster tail . A wing has been fitted to the right hand side so I can ride along and instruct junior drivers. Neil Littlely, Kalgoorlie

Trevor Jones Sidewinder:

Dear Edge Products, I'm happy to say my Sidewinder is finished using your plans, running a KLR650 engine, however I changed a few things along the way, eg: weld in taper-locs for the rear axle assembly & drive/brake sprockets etc. Hope you can include a picture in your "Customers Buggies" section ? Cheers TREV JONES Normanhurst,Syd.NSW.

Ian Smith Piranha:

Pommie ian here from New Norcia, Western Australia. If you and Kade do head out to wedge with your XRV'S it would be an absolute pleasure to tag along for some part of your trip with my Piranha . There should be attached a picture of my current buggy that i would love to see on readers rides page . please let me know what you think. cheers Ian

Greg Williams Piranha 2+2:

Attached are some pix's of my completed 2 seater Piranha, thanks for all the help. I will send serval emails with attachments as they may be too large. I used a Honda VFR4 750 engine. Greg, Queensland.

Steve Brown Piranha:

Steve Brown, Northern Ireland, 750VFR V4 powered Piranha Tony, I've attach photos of my kart, many thanks for your service, enjoyed the build. Regards, Steve

Robert Tworus Sidewinder:

Hello Tony, This is my buggy. Thanks you for plans. We are sending our greetings from Poland. Robert Tworus

Daniel Raven:

Hi guys. Thanks for the great plans, I built this "Raven" for my 5 year old son. To say that he loves it it is an understatement. It's powered by a 4hp engine. I've made a few modifications, like the roll bar, rear sproket and axle. But otherwise it's as per the plans. My son and I are already planning on building our next project, probably the Sidewinder. Thanks Daniel. Sunbury, Victoria

Leigh Timmins Taipan:

This is my Taipan, it is 2 years old. Powered by a Yamaha TT250. Leigh Timmins, Melbourne, Victoria.

Andy Wit Piranha:

This is my VFR800i powered Piranha. Andy Wit from Manchester England.

Andy Sidewinder:

Here is the Sidewinder myself and 13 year old son have built, 18 months of fun doing the project. The results speak for themselves we run a Honda XL 350cc motor. A lot of fun for the whole family. I am an engineer and we built the cart off a photo of a friends Sidewinder ( NO PLANS). We machined everything in the workshop. We used suspension parts from the two wrecked Hondas we brought. The front suspension has double rear shocks on each side, and the rear has four shocks from the front ends of the bikes. The combination works well and it jumps like a demon, We used a  Momo seat and RPM 4point harness to keep Andy safe. Tyres /rims we got from Edge. What do you think? we would be interested to know. We love the site, do you know of any where you can race these in Vic? Cheers Andy / Dad

Greg Crawford Trax II:

Hi, here's a pic of our TRAX 2. Finally finished after about 8 months. Started as a project for myself and my son Jarrett and ended up with my wife Meegan and daughter Briony putting in a helping hand as well. It was easy to build from the plans, I spent more time thinking than doing. I widened the track by 100mm to improve steering and modified a steering rack from a 1960 Morris Minor to lighten the steering. The seat adjusts on car tracks. The engine is 6.5hp with a TAV2..We are all having a ball, it flies when wound up and will go into some amazing places. Thanks for a terrific design. Greg Crawford. Grafton NSW.

Norman Williams Piranha:

I bought a set of plans for a Piranah a couple of years ago and this is the result. Although not really a piranha looking, the swing arms and the drive are the same but I loved the look of your XRV so much I had to try and make it look more like that with a few of my own touches.
It has a VF1000   V4 engine, Fox nitrogen remote shocks,  3 inch   5 point harness, XJR  cans,
ali fuel tank. I live in Hope ,North Wales , United Kingdom. I hope you like the results, gadgers.. www.hi-samurai.com for more pics, cheers

Andrew Ditton Piranha:

Guys, Here is some pics of my buggy I built off your plans for the Piranha. It runs a full factory woks 2000 spec super sports gsxr 750 engine. This is a fuel injected engine running 4 x 45mm inlet trumpets. The engine dynoed at 162,3 kw. The rev limit has been rased to 15000 rpm. I have changed the rear end to incorporate Holden 4wd front drive shafts, cutting them down to suit. I also moved the front shocks outboard of the chassis to give myself more room around the pedal boxes. Majority of the buggy was built at home, it has taken 9 months from start to finish. Thanks for the help guys. Andrew Ditton, Brisbane QLD.

Bryce Lampe Sidewinder 2+2:

My name is Bryce Lampe and live out of Narrabri, New South Wales on a property. I have constructed this buggy using the plan's of the Sidewinder Plus adding 730mm to the centre and changing the suspension unit to adapt to the added weight. It is powered by a Yamaha XTZ600cc motor with an average speed of 130kms/h. renaming it the "SIDEWINDER COMBO"
This buggy was built for my HSC major project.

Phil Sidewinder:

Hi Tony, finally got a picture of the sidewinder for you to put into the website, got Muro to do up the motor, that came up great. Nx650 with top end rebuild, monza racing seat with custom made canvas cover, 18 litre fuel tank, a 3 liltre external oil tank, rewired by sparkly, sealed battery, front max and bear claw tyres, upgraded rear swing arm, top speed of about 120km and I think its been tuned to about 57hp. Edge front shocks and a Mazda rear shock.Should be able to come out to the track next time you go out, Thanks for answering all the dumb questions and say thanks to Kade for us please. Phil at Digrite, Western Australia.

Hartly Pokrant Hartman's Modified Sidewinder:

These are pictures of my modified Sidewinder that I built from your plans. I modified the rear swing arm design to a dual shock absorber system which was a little easier to build and allowed me to move the motor on to the swing arm. The frame side extensions could then be eliminated to give me the sleeker Piranha look I was after. The top frame section was also widened by a few inches to provide a little more interior elbow room. I was especially keen on using a Comet torque converter clutch system since these are very smooth and offer continuous automatic gear ratios without having to shift gears in rapidly changing conditions on trail riding that I do. Top speed was not my concern so i didn't use a multi cylinder engine. Your plans were very complete and I appreciated the many customer photos to get some ideas from. I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. I took the time to build a web site with many photos of the construction process. Please visit the site at: http://www.mts.net/~hpokrant/Piranha_Buggy/index.htm Sincerely, Hartley

Kevin Ode Piranha:

Dear Tony & Kade. I am sending you some pictures of my Piranha II that I"ve built over the last seven months. My buggy is powered by a 2004 ZZR 1200. Hoping that you can find some room on your web site. Regards Kevin Ode, Newcastle NSW

Matt & Anthony Hocking Piranha's:

Matt and Anthony Hocking of Eastern Melbourne with identical pair of Pirahna buggies with VFR 750 93 mdl engines. I Matt, have built two sidewinders in the past so building the Pirahna was a breeze. I built it last year when I was getting over Chronic Fatigue and it took me three months, the second Pirhana for Anthony took only 5 weeks in health between Uni semester.
I have been using my buggy for over a year and have clocked well over ten thousand kms. I can get up tracks only four wheel driver's dream about. The buggy handles like an expensive rally car and takes off like a dragster. What fun they are!!!! Thanks for the fantastic and very clear plans.

Corey Reifsnider Piranha:

This is my Pirahna, powered by a 750cc air cooled engine from a Suzuki 750 GS. It has quad exhaust, 2 cooling fans, 35 series yoke set up, bulletproof rear end and modified shifting linkage for right hand shifting with suicide handle. Super aggressive and tons of fun to drive, it was a joy to build! Corey Reifsnider, Fond du Lac, WI USA

Rusty Littleton XRV/Piranha:

Hello Tony, I just wanted to drop you an e-mail and show you a picture of the new buggy I built. It was inspired by your XRV design. I took the advice from the Edge forum and powered it with a TL1000 engine that I picked up on Ebay for $500. This thing has tons of power! I started out with 17-60 gearing and recently changed to 15-60 because of the rough trails I ride on near my home. I now use more of the gearbox and it seems just right. I have a vw differential and turning brakes which is really fun where I have been riding. I know your not too keen on diffs! I plan to change the front shocks to give more travel up front, but other than that its pretty cool. I am planning to build one of your new creations when the plans become available on the Edge site. I am really looking forward to doing another build. Rusty Littleton USA

Thanks Tony. I sent you some pics last year – I’m the genius that plugged giant hole with my green Hypersprint. I’ve attached another picture from the Imperial Sand Dunes in California. Brett USA

Ian McDougall Piranha:

This Piranha belongs to Ian McDougall of Geraldton, Western Australia. Built from an Edge PIR15CV rolling kitset. Ian supplied Edge with the R1 Yamaha 1000cc engine & Edge made the engine mounts to suit. The buggy kit then went to Mark Byrne who then finished the buggy up a ready to drive monster. (Mark Byrne can be contacted at The Edge Products). This buggy features custom made extractors, alloy side panels, alloy radiator shroud, alloy dash panel incorporating the R1 instument cluster, Porsche CV rear end, twin piston calipers front & rear, wing mirrors, 5 point 3" harness & spotlights. Chassis is finished in gloss black powdercoat with metalic silver suspension & rims. Gearing is 15 to 60 tooth with 26x12x12" Bearclaws. Engine retains its YPVS exhaust control unit built into the new exhaust system.

Alf Haswell 6x6:

I have made a 6X6 the main frame started to be based on Edge 6x6 then I put a Subaru 4 speed gearbox plug into a Honda CB650 bike motor the motor is cooled by a 12v fan out of a Subaru. The off roader has 20 forward gears an 5 the other way. the motor puts out 55Hp. Speed is 600 metres an hour in fist gear @ 900rpm up to 100 to 105 kph in long cog @ 9500rpm it be comes a boat 350mm of water. Alf of Westport New Zealand.

Alexander Hardie Sidewinder:

My name is Alex Hardie, I live out of Cootamundra in NSW on a farm property. It has taken me about a year to complete this Sidewinder. I made the buggy for my HSC project. The Sidewinder is powered by an XT600 Yamaha. Made a couple of little changes and made a little bullbar. Hope there's room on the page. Thanks

Brian Latz Sidewinder:

I started building the buggy from an old 3rd edition (9/3/85) set of drgs I'd had for years. Soon after I started a friend gave me a set of late 90's vintage drg's he had purchased, which I used, so the chassis is basically Sidewinder Plus. I designed and fitted my own front shock mts, pedals, steering column etc, to suit the components I was using.

Basic specs as follows:
Front stubs: Holden, B type brgs stubs with 4 stud Mini pattern hubs.
Front swingarms. Std Sidewinder. Chassis mts made to offer 3 front track widths.
Front Rims: Widened Mini.
Front tyres: 21 x 7x 10.
Steering box. Narrowed down Mini R&P with modified Mini column and Cortina uni joints.
Petrol tank: As per early drgs but with 3 rubber mts made using car shock absorber rubbers.
Fuel pump. Edge supplied vacuum pump and priming bulb.
Seat: Ex Austin A30 car.
Floor: 3mm Aluminium sht.
Body sides and bonnet: 2mm Aluminium sht.
Motor, rear brake, (bike front disc) master cylinder and rear shocker ex 1990 vintage TT250 Yamaha trail bike.
Exhaust system: Modified pipes, Ex bike with "Hotdog" as muffler.
Rear wheels: 8.5 x 8" Mini Pattern (sourced locally)
Rear tyres: 22 x 12 x 8
Back axle: 1.25" 4140 round with 3/8" keyway ea end, plus threaded for 3/4 inch UNF nut ea end to secure wheel hubs.
Rear wheel hubs, brake and sprocket hubs were made from some s/hand 1.25" bored and keyed sprockets scrounged from a local engineering firm.
Red and white paint job was chosen by my son in Law who is a Holden fan. I would have painted it Ford blue.

Jason & Carl Worledge Sidewinders:

Hi, hope its ok to put these Sidewinder pics on your site. Few details, the red one in the pic has a Suzuki gsx 750 f engine, quad front hubs and wheels all round, gaz racing shocks and kirkey seat and quick release steering wheel. The blue the same spec apart from the engine is a gsx600f engine. Took about 7 months to build both of them, I did the welding and fabricating & my brother Carl did all the lathe, wiring and the spray work. We live in in Norfolk England.
If you could put these on your websight would be great thanks, my names Jason ( blue buggy ) and my brother is Carl (red buggy ).

Geoffrey Waddell Taipan:

Hi, Geoffrey Waddell from Northern Ireland. These are my two taipan buggies which I built from your great plans. Some parts I got from the Edge. These parts travelled half way around the world with no problems. The rest of the two buggies I built myself in around 3 months for each buggy, on weekends and the odd night. They both have 13hp 390cc honda engines with 40 series torque converter. They both go really well and seem to be very strong. All your help via email was great and I will be making more of your buggies. If you could put both pictures on your customer page that would be great! Thanks

Bill Harrison Taipan:

Here is a pic of my Taipan powered by a GN250 Suzuki, built to your plans. It goes well & really hangs the tail out on hard cornering. Specs 22" rear knobbys on mini rims 20" front knobby tyres, Subaru rack & pinion steering, Honda disc brake on rear axle. I am from Springston, Canterbury N.Z.

Peter Spencer Piranha:

Slightly different take on a Piranha but you can see the concept is still there. Peter built this machine on a budget & has made most of the parts himself, including the shocks. This Piranha has a wider rollbar, outboard front shocks & is powered by a Suzuki GS750. Peter lives in Ballujura, Western Australia.

Mathew Doyle Fun Kart III:

I build this Fun Kart III from your plans. It has a honda 5hp goes pretty good, thanks for your help with it. I live in Perth, Western Australia. I'm now building a Taipan.

Lloyd Mitchell Piranha:

Please find attached photos of my Piranha Buggy project, to put on your web site. This project took me 18mths to build. It has a Honda V4 750 motor. Thanks. Lloyd Mitchell. Cairns QLD

Nathan Spadaro Trax II:

Hey guys, I bought a trax II and monsterized it. All the parts I have used are edge standard items but the frame is original, you can see the trax II front nose cone. You can see by the design that I love world rally and top fuel racing. It is fitted with an 18hp Briggs and Stratton and a 90 series torque converter. I am very happy with the buggy. I have rebuilt the front suspension and steering 3 times suspension and the rear twice. I loved the challenge and now it handles great. When ever I take it out everyone slows down to check it out. Many people stopped to watch me test it out and offered suggestions on steering and suspension angles. My exhaust guy is pushing me to let him turbo it for me, now that the suspension is set I will get it done during the New Year. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the great inspirational site.

Stuart Henderson Sidewinder:

Tony, My name is Stuart Henderson from Stratford in Victoria. I'm writing to let you know my sidewinder project is finished. I've attached a picture, and hope that you can include it on your 'customers buggies' page on your website.I had heaps of fun building it. Your plans were detailed and easy to work with.I've used lighter gauge steel than the plan specs in a few places and made a few homegrown alterations. The engine is an FT500 Honda with 14/50 gearing. The engine really appreciates the lower gearing and provides heaps of grunt. I used an XT250 rear shock and your Edge shocks on the front with 400lb springs (these units were the best value around). I've made a fibreglass fuel tank with PVC foam and fibreglass sandwich panels.I used conventional 3 pedal controls (I wanted to teach the kids to drive a car). I'll still be making some additions in the near future: some sort of mud deflector for the front wheels . I have some wheels brakes off a Sikorsky helicopter that I want to adapt to fit the front wheels and will make a carbon fibre bonnet ( just for wank factor) Thank you for help you've given me on you forum page. Regards Stuart Henderson

Ross Young Raven:

Hi Tony, We built a raven for our Boys' Brigade company at Gosford NSW. It goes well and has been great Fun. Thanks Ross Young

Terry Ross Raven:

Hey, I've complete my go-kart.and you've made another happy customer. Attached is a picture of it. you can add it to your collection on your site. Regards, Terry Ross, Killarney heights NSW

Luke Rossi Sidewinder:

Hey Tony how u doing? Well this is our buggy it belongs to Frank and Luke Rossi. It's a Sidewinder & we have just fitted new hubs, flanges, ball bearings, axle, Sprocket, brake disk, brake calliper, chain, tyres back and front, rims back and front and a back shock. It has a Suzuki 650cc engine

Vince Baker Piranha:

Hi, Here are a photo of my Piranha which I built from scratch with your plans. It is powered by a Kawasaki ZX6-R engine. I've had as much fun building it as driving it. It has been tidied it up since these photos. Note the Dukes of Hazzard Dixie Horns on the top... ;-) Vince Baker. Swilland, Ipswich UK.

Keston Impey Piranha:

Hey guys here is a picture of my pirahna. It has a honda CB750 motor with custom airbox setup, Orange-yellow pearl paintjob, Custom built seat, performance pipe, 5 point harness. It's not finished as it has to be race prepped to compete in the offroad racing series held here in South africa. Anyone who wants to chat about racing or buggies can email me at agentpenz@yahoo.com Keston Impey.

Mal & Sonya Taipan:

Finally got the buggy finished, maybe it wasn`t that hard after all. It goes real well, spins both back tyres off a standing start and does donuts, power slides, etc. The boy loves it, thank christ!! Mal.

Ray Morasse Sidewinders:

Hi Tony I'm sending a pict and some info on my buggies! Both are the sidewinder design I bought from you. I changed up the front end on one but other wise they are pretty closely built to you your plans. Both buggies are powered by Kawasaki water cooled 500 cc's, they are very quick and quite nimble. I even managed to put reverse on both of them. We are in a mountainous area and reverse was a must. You can put my email address on the site as I'm all to happy to answer any questions your customers my have. Thanks Ray raymorasse@uniserve.com Vancouver B.C. Canada

Brian Money Piranha:

HELLO TONY, HERE ARE THE STATS ON OUR MACHINE. HAS A KAW GPZ 900 WATER COOLED MOTOR. FRAME IS TIG WELED, HAS AN AIR UP\DOWN SHIFTER WITH BOTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL.THE RIGHT SIDE WING TANK IS A FAKE,IT'A ACTUALLY AN ELECTRICAL POD. IT HOUSES THE; ONBOARD COMPRESSOR, AIR TANK, PRESSURE SWITCH, SOLINOIDE VALVE(ALL FOR THE AIR SHIFTER), CDI BOX, FUSES, RELAYS, BATTERY, STARTER  SOLINOIDE, DIODES. IN OHIO WE DONT WORRY ABOUT HEAT AS MUCH AS TREE BRANCHES, THATS WHY THE RADIATOR IN THE REAR, LOW AND SHROUDED WITH REAR WING COVERING IT.THE SIZE AND SHAPE OF THE TOP WING ALSO IS MORE FOR BRANCHES THAN DOWN FORCE. WE FREELY ADMIT WE WENT OVER THE TOP WITH THE WINGS AND PAINT SCHEME,BUT WE HAD FUN DOING IT. THE NEIGHBOR SAID IT LOOKS LIKE A CROSS BETWEEN A T-REX AND A SPRINT CAR, (I NOTICED HE TAKES HIS KIDS IN THE HOUSE WHEN WE FIRE IT UP.) THE BUGGY SCREEMS AND THE THUMB ACTIVATED SHIFT BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WORKS GREAT. THATS ALL FOR NOW. THX BRIAN MONEY

Rhys Carr Sidewinder:

Hi my name is rhys i am 13years old my dad and i built this buggy. It took us 1 year to build. We have had hours off fun riding around.  About 4 months ago dad was welding on it and had a fuel leak he didnt notice it and started welding. I came home from school and wat do i find the buggy pulled out of the shed on its rims. Dad burnt it to the ground. Since then we have rebuilt it and is running great. It has a DR500motor wich goes like the clappers. Hope you can put it on the custmer buggy page. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP EDGE.

Steve Thomas Piranhas:

Two Piranha's built by Steve Thomas.

Russel Cartmell Piranha:

Hi Tony, Thought you would be interested in a picture or two of my Piranha. Its's my second project built from your plans, the first being a klr650 powered sidewinder. This buggy has a stock (for now) TL 1000s motor driving it. Runs with the original TL 1000 gauges modified to fit a custom dash, stainless exhaust, and have gone with a foot clutch, rear brake pedal, hand front brake, (on gear change lever) setup. Works for me! A recored "mini "radiator turned on it's side backed up with an electric fan provides more than adequate cooling. Have extended the frame by 100mm to accommodate the Vee twin motor and the s/s tank holds the fuel injector pump etc off the original bike. Still playing around with the sprocket ratios for best performance but will probably settle for a 14/55 tooth set up. It's been great project Tony and thanks again. Regards, Russell Cartmell, Auckland, New Zealand

Jonathan Polyblank Sidewinder:

Here are a few pics and specs of my finished sidewinder plus to post on customer buggies page.

It is powered by a KX500 fitted with a custom made FMF Gold series power pipe. Puts out about 70HP. Engine has a heavy duty clutch fitted and all new bearings fitted through out. I managed to fit electric starter to engine using a reduction gear starter motor off a Ford big block V8 and a flywheel attached through a custom made hub keyed to a custom kick starter shaft. I had to fit a cable operated decompression valve to the head to assist on start up as compression was way too high! Also had to slow speed down of starter by using a 6 volt battery. Engine has rubber mounts for vibration.

Running Edge shocks at front and KX500 mono on rear. Edge front brakes and KX500 rear back brake. Running 4 foot pedals with front and back pedal split in middle to pivot off either side for braking. Made gear shifter on left side through linkages and bearings which is a short quick shift.

Steering is Ford Escort rack and VL Commodore column.Has RCI seat and 5 point harness and arm restraints. Fuel tank is alloy checker plate. Custom made hubs to suit rear sprocket and disc. Made sprocket guards/guides for rear sprocket. Have added extra roll bars around engine and fuel tank with a view of most likely rolling it. Powder coated in flame red, pearl glow silver and gloss black. Dominator tires on front and bearclaws on back.

You may or may not see it but have spent close to 9k building this thing covering every minute detail. It is a weapon to drive with unbelievable acceleration. I can spin those wheels in any gear at any revs. It jumps well too. Lots and lots of fun. Thanks for all ya help Tony, much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Jonathan Polyblank.

Dean Lawrence Trax II:

My names Dean from Perth Western Australia
This is my trax 2 complete with a 9hp Briggs and Stratton motor and modified 200ml longer than the original plans. It goes great in the soft sand but even better on the gravel.
One week after I painted it I rolled it twice on a limestone track scratching my new paint work but thats all part the fun.

Mujahid Hypersprint:

The CBR Hypersprint is powered by a 1993 CBR1000F engine juiced up with a
few goodies like Barnett Hi-performance clutch, Dynojet Stage 1 kit, K&N inbox filter, 2
Brothers freeflow can & All gauges by Autometer.

The main underseat tank (22 ltrs) & the gravity tank (2 ltrs) and the radiator overflow
bottle are polished stainless steel. The main tank is protected from exhaust heat with
an extra 3 mm aluminum shield. View the rest yourself and decide if I have done justice to the kit.

Please don't forget the special tips & tricks of desert driving, especially racing since I have very little time to practice.

Kane and Peter Dominey Piranha:

Hi Tony, Please find attached some photos of our piranha to include on your site. Engine: ’87 Yamaha FZR 1000. Cooling: Sigma radiator (bout the only useful part of o Sigma) and bike oil cooler Exhaust: thermo-wrapped 4-2-1 (lengthened secondaries to drop torque band) Final Gearing: 16-47 All Else: As per EDGE specs. Trailer: MIN. Width, our own design. It’s stupidly fast, clocked at 180! We’ve been meaning to change the gearing! But the motor doesn’t seem to be struggling. Thanks for all the help during the build. Regards Kane and Peter Dominey .

Giuliano Civitella Sidewinders:

Hi Tony, attached you´ll see the pictures of the Sidewinders. I´ve tried a softer front suspension and to reach that I´ve designed new swing arms. I´ve also used volkswagen beetle set of pedals on the sidewinder. Anyway, the car is fantastic, many people come from far away to see them. I´ve installed a 200cc four stroke Honda motorcicle engine, despite your minimum 350 cc recomendation. By the way, I live in Brazil, on the countryside of the state of São Paulo, in a city called Indaiatuba. Tell me your impressions. Be my guest to answer anything about the sidewinders on the pictures. People in Brazil have great interest in this type of vehicles and a lot of space to run. Have you exported some of your cars to Brazil? Thank you in advance for your kind cooperation. Giuliano Civitella São Paulo Brazil

Doug Heim Sidewinder:

Hey There Tony. I thought I would take some time to send some pics for the customers buggy's page. This is a Sidewinder I built over last winter (2004-2005) with extra stuff I had lying around. It is powered by an old air cooled 84 CR 500. It was built entirley out of 16 ga. tube with the exception of A-arms and rear swing arm to achieve a light buggy. It is infact very light and with the 2-stroke motor it only makes it lighter. The motor was very temperamental but with a few days of fine tuning, it now breaks the tires loose in every gear. I didnt get to enjoy this one really at all. I was in the process of finishing it and had a guy stop by the house wanting to buy it. I did sell it on hopes of one day using the money to build the Piranha I had always wanted to. That Buggy is becoming a reality as we speak. I have already started it and hope to be done late this spring. Pics to be sent as soon as it is done. I have a few other Sidewinders I built this past summer / fall for some of my friends. I will send those as well in a seperate E-mail. Take care... Doug Heim Wisconsin USA

Alf Deli Fiori Piranha:

I'm sending some pics and some info on my Piranha which my 15 year old step son Brock and I built from scratch from your plans. After 12 months on and off we finally finished the beast. It has an Air cooled Honda CB900, the frame was slightly lengthened in the rear by 150mm to house the motor. I converted the cable clutch to hydraulic using a slave cylinder that came with the CNC brake and clutch kit, the gravity feed spun aluminium tank was purched in America. It has a 5 point harness, custom seat with slides and an EMPY accelerator pedal. I would like to thank yo guys for all your help and advice. Best regards Brock and Alf Deli Fiori from Kanahooka NSW.

Rob Barnett Sidewinder:

Chris Pierson RC Piranha:

Handbuilt huge RC car, for those that know, modelled on the PIRANHA by THE EDGE. I have spent over 2 years working on this. Rims were turned from 6061 aircraft aluminium billet. Shocks are new arctic cat snowmobile. I have released the nitrogen from them. Springs were wound locally.Phneumatic tyres (ride on lawnmover). It runs 2 huge TONEGAWA SEIKO PS-050 Servos producing 90+ kg of torque. One on the steering, the other operates throttle and braking. Braking is done via a rear hydraulic operated disc and caliper made by Bassano Grimeca Italy. I have altered the servos with an aluminuim final drive gear and output shaft to replace the crappy nylon standard. Sealed ball bearings throughout. Delrin bushes where needed. Rose joints on all tie rods etc. Power plant is an 80cc McCulloch chainsaw engine that has been overhalled with new bearings and rings and powder coated. Has a new carb too. Drive is via chain and through 4 industrial univeral joints and spline. All electrics operated through a 12V motorcycle battery. All items are either powder coated, zinc plated, anodised or 316 stainless steel. Fitted with a T6XA helicopter radio control with rechargable batteries. Also has small relays to operate the lights on and off from the controller. Dimensions. 1400mm long by 900mm wide by 700mm high. These are measured to approximatly the outside of the tyres and to the top op the rollbar. By the way, wheels are removable by undoing 5 wheelnuts at the hub. Mathew Brown Hypersprint:

My name is Matthew Brown out of San Diego CA, USA. I have 2 Hypersprints. Thanks for a great product. It took us awhile to get these Hypersprints together (Big learning Experience) but now I can hardly keep my wife out of hers long enough to fuel up J. We put GSXR 750s in them (2001 Fuel Injected) A Power commander to run the electronics, wrapped the pipes underneath and did some other tweaking. They scream. I hope you put another shop up out here because they get great reviews from the desert folk in the USA. Makes us feel like stars on wheels. Here are some pics (Before paint).thanks again! Matthew Brown

Hi Tony, Here are the pictures you have requested of my Hypersprint. This has been a project that me and my sons have completed I am in Perth W.A.

Trevor Hewson Piranha:

Hi Tony, Well another Buggy is finished, well should say modified. The Buggy started out as Sidewinder with a 250 2 stroke engine, them was repowered twice. The my son rolled it, so decided to convert it into a Piranha. It was a great project. Only running a KLR650, but that plenty quick enough for me, and more importantly my son ! Also needed to make a new trailer, but with limited room at home, designed the trailer to fold in half for storage. Best Regards Trevor.

Steve Knoll Piranha:

Just wanted to drop a note and some pics of my recently finished, Piranha. With a lot of personal touches, custom front suspension, and Fox shocks. 2 aluminum fuel cells with separate shut offs. Stainless steel brake rotors, a lot of chrome, dual Vance and Hines pipes. A FZX700 Yamaha motor, ez-clutch. Custom hand laid fiberglass body, and wing. Proportioning valve to rear brake. This had been a great project. I have built several experimental airplanes, and tried to use some of that technology on my buggy. Here are a few pics with my buggy setup to run on ice. I also restored a telescoping travel trailer, and converted it into my toy hauler. Keep up the good work. Steve C. Knoll

Boaz Piranha:

Hi Tony My name is Boaz and I live in Israel, last year I saw your website and order set of piranha plans. I have a nice workshop and when I have free time I build projects. After I got your nice plans I decided to start to build the buggy. I worked hard on this project almost one year but I loved every minute. The pictures that I sent to you is the results . Some technical information: the engine come from suzuki gsx 750 f motorcycle . I got all the parts, oil radiator, muffler, wire harness from the motorcycle in very good condition. All the parts are self made including the fuel tanks and instruments panel that made of carbon fiber in molds with epoxy resin (this is my professional and do it for living). The front and side panels are metal painted with airbrush. I put electric starter for reversing and use it with push button. I drive the buggy at weekends and its a real pleasure. Thank you and continue with your good job that you make for all the buggy lovers around the world. best regards, Boaz, Israel.

Alistair Greenford Sidewinder:

Hi tony, well this is my sidewinder it took 2 years to make from ground up.All parts made by my self using you plan as a guide It runs a cr 500 engine which was a hand full in any situation. Great plans thinking of building a barracuda next looks awesome thanks mate Allister (UK)

Nigel Paulet Taipan:

Please find enclosed photo of our completed Taipan. Our buggy utilises a home made rack & pinion steering box, 40mm rhs in the lower frame and king pins with bearings top & bottom. A GMH disc rotor and caliper, 3/4 pitch drive chain and a 90 series comet torque converter completes the drive train. I have used taper lock bushes for the rear hubs, brake rotor and drive sprocket. My son Henry is doing a great job "ploughing" up our paddocks with the taipan. Thanks for the inspirational plans. Regards, Nigel Paulet

Dowling Taipan:

This is my Yamaha TRX850 Powered Piranha. I thought you might want to add it to the customers page. Thanks Biggans.

Pa Byrnes Sidewinder:

Hi, My name is Pa Byrnes, Im' 16 and I'm from Ireland. I built a trax 2 about 2 years ago and now this is my new Sidewinder! It was finished about a month ago after a year and a bit in construction. It has a klr650, rear disc brake, sparco rally harrness, mongoose exhaust, dirt dogs on the rear (brilliant for drifting!, even though i shouldn't be doing it), Ford fiesta steering rack, induction cone, novelty horn, decals, 600 ninja shock on the rear and Edge shocks on the front, after nearly 5 months of playing with various car shocks and mono shocks, the edge ones still are miles better and are definatly worth the money. I had a few problems at the start with the engine, i bought it from an insurance company. The donor bike was used in a robbery and most of the wiring was gone. So rewiring and reskimming a the starter clutch took more than expected too. This is my second build and has thought me a lot of stuff about bikes and welding, etc. Thanks again to all the boys at the Edge.

Ree Elatm Piranha:

THOUGHT U MIGHT LIKE A PICTURE OF MY 2 YEAR PROJECT.POWERD BY GPZ 900R. BIG THANKS 2 LlOYD MITCHEL FOR HELPING ME OUT.AWSOME POWER! REE ELATM. F.N.Q (CAIRNS).

They are powered by the Honda 9 HP GX 270 with a comet torque converter. Greta FUN !!!! Cheers, Tony Cox Goondiwindi State High School

Mike and John Goldsworthy Piranha:

This is our Piranha just finished using Piranha plans It has taken about 15 months to build. We had to modify the back end to fit Our Honda VF1000 engine and the driveshafts to handle the power. These are modified Subaru legacy front driveshafts. We used the whole dash out of the donor bike and all the gauges work except the speedo which we still have to sort out. About 95% of welding, fabricating and painting was learnt and done on the job including the two fuel tanks which are hand made. As the picture shows we had a good test in the mud before we stripped it to paint and it was awesome. Rear suspension is from a Mitsi Lancer GSR which we modified to be adjustable Radiator is out of a small Honda. The only real parts we didn't make was the front hub and brake assemblies and front shocks which are all Edge products Mike and John Goldsworthy

Dave Trax II:

Made all the frame from scratch and added more framework to the sides also purchased some products from you. The buggy is powered by a 200cc Jianshe and is electric start, it is a Chinese copy of a honda and for less than $1000 thought it was good value.
